Binance USD market cap falls below $10B amid rising regulatory concerns
Binance USD (BUSD) market cap has fallen below $10 billion for the first time in almost two years amid a United States regulatory crackdown on its token issuer and a planned delisting from a major crypto exchange. SEC objection to Voyager-Binance.US deal questioned by US judge
The bankruptcy judge on Voyager Digital’s case has reportedly scolded the United States securities regulator over ambiguous reasoning for objecting to the crypto lending firm’s proposed sale to Binance.US. At a Mar. 2 hearing in a New York court, U.S. bankruptcy judge Michael Wiles said the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had basically asked to “stop everybody in their tracks” without explaining how to address concerns it had over the deal according to a Reuters report. Binance 'not planning any layoffs,’ 500 roles to be filled in H1
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has confirmed it is “not planning any layoffs” and is trying to fill another 500 roles by the end of June, according to a Binance spokesperson. The comments came despite a huge spike in crypto layoffs in January — the majority of whom were from crypto exchanges. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and colleagues demand to see Binance’s balance sheets
Three United States senators led by Elizabeth Warren have sent a letter to Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and Binance.US CEO Brian Shroder expressing concern over a number of facets of Binance’s activities and requesting information from the companies that includes their balance sheets. Binance US restructuring plan favored by 97% of Voyager customers
A move by Binance US to acquire assets belonging to the bankrupt crypto lending firm Voyager Digital has been favored by 97% of Voyager’s customers. A Feb. 28 court filing shows an overwhelming majority of Voyager Digital account holders are in favor of the buyout from the United States-based arm of the crypto exchange Binance. France on the verge of passing stringent crypto firm licensing laws
The French National Assembly has voted in favor of legislating stricter licensing rules for new cryptocurrency firms in order to harmonize local laws with proposed European Union (EU) standards. The vote was passed with 109 votes (60.5%) in favor to 71 (39.5%) against. Crypto industry has been raising its lobbying efforts amid the crypto winter that began last year. In 2022, the market participants spent $25.57 million on lobbying in the United States. This number appears in a study, published by the Money Mongers on Feb. 23.
