DeFi exploits and access control hacks cost crypto investors billions in 2022: Report
Cyber criminals used a variety of novel ways to carry out hacks and exploits in 2022, with over $2.8 billion of cryptocurrency stolen last year. According to a report from CoinGecko using data sourced from DeFiYield’s REKT Database, nearly half of the total crypto stolen in 2022 was fleeced using diverse methods. This includes bypassing verification processes, market manipulation, ‘crowd looting’ as well as smart contract and bridge exploits. CoinGecko and 21Shares propose global crypto classification standard
Major cryptocurrency data aggregator CoinGecko and crypto investment firm 21Shares have joined forces to launch a global standard for classifying various types of cryptocurrencies. On Feb. 8, CoinGecko and 21Shares released The Global Crypto Classification Standard report, proposing a uniform method to categorize crypto assets. CoinGecko reveals the US state most interested in Bitcoin and Ethereum
The Golden State of California may be America's most inquisitive state about Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), new data from CoinGecko has revealed. In a report shared by CoinGecko, internet users from California accounted for a whopping 43% of all Bitcoin and Ethereum web traffic searches on the crypto tracking website. DeFi market fell off cliff in Q2 but users haven’t given up hope: Report
Despite the decentralized finance (DeFi) market suffering a 74.6% market cap decline in Q2, user activity has remained relatively resilient, says CoinGecko. In a report published by the crypto data aggregator on Wednesday, CoinGecko reported that the overall DeFi market cap fell from $142 million to $36 million over the second quarter, due mainly to the collapse of Terra and its stablecoin TerraUSD Classic (USTC) in May. Following a mind-blowing price surge, the Squid Game (SQUID) token plummeted over 99% shortly after Twitter flagged its “official” accounts on the social media platform as suspicious. Q3 saw significant crypto market recovery from May crash, says new report
Cryptocurrency data aggregator CoinGecko has released its Q3 2021 report showing massive gains across several crypto market sectors.
