Coinbase announces acquisition of One River Digital Asset Management
United States-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has acquired cryptocurrency-focused hedge fund One River Digital Asset Management, or ORDAM. In a March 3 blog post, Coinbase said One River Digital will transition to become Coinbase Asset Management, “an independent business and wholly-owned subsidiary” of the crypto exchange. Fidelity plans NFT marketplace and financial services in the Metaverse
$4.2 trillion asset management firm Fidelity Investments has filed trademark applications in the United States for a host of Web3 products and services, including a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace and financial investment and crypto trading services in the metaverse. SEC approves 9 more WisdomTree 'blockchain-enabled' funds
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given the green light to nine more blockchain-enabled funds from $82 billion asset manager WisdomTree. None of these funds track crypto assets themselves, but the firm does utilize the Ethereum and Stellar blockchains to keep a secondary record of share ownership, thus making them blockchain-enabled or “digital funds” as WidsomTree describes them. The founders of Three Arrows Capital, or 3AC, the Singapore-based crypto hedge fund with close ties to Terra Labs, have been spending more time engaging on social media and news outlets than dealing with its own liquidation, according to bankruptcy lawyers. Celsius’ co-founder Daniel Leon follows Mashinsky out as crypto exec flight continues
S. Daniel Leon, who cofounded Celsius with Alex Mashinsky in 2017, has quit his job as the bankrupt crypto lender’s chief strategy officer, CNBC reported Oct. 4, citing unnamed sources and an internal memo seen by the outlet. Bloomberg later reported receiving confirmation of Leon’s resignation from the company. Leon’s resignation comes one week after Mashinsky’s and is part of an apparently growing trend. Celsius filed for bankruptcy July 13, while it was under investigation by six American states and a month after freezing withdrawals. Bombshell allegations of fraud as KeyFi takes Celsius to court

VTB sealed the first deal with digital financial assets in Russia
VTB Factoring, a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned bank, reported the first major deal with digital finance assets. As part of the deal, the bank subsidiary acquired a tokenized debt pool of the engineering company Metrowagonmash, issued via the fintech platform Lighthouse. On Wednesday, June 29, VTB reported the deal on its webpage, claiming it to be the first issuance and placement of digital financial assets secured by cash in the Russian Federation. 71% of high net worth individuals have invested in digital assets: Survey
High net worth individuals (HNWI) have embraced cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, with 71% of wealthy individuals investing in digital assets according to a new survey. Technology consulting company Capgemini released its 2022 “World Wealth Report” on Tuesday. It polled 2,973 global HNWIs, with 54% reporting a wealth band ranging from $1 million to $30 million and 46% reporting wealth of $30 million and over. Cryptocurrency investment manager Galaxy Digital Holdings reported a sharp loss in the first quarter due to unrealized losses in its digital asset portfolio, underscoring heightened volatility in the digital asset sector in 2022.
