Bluzelle launches mainnet decentralized storage for NFT content
Bluzelle, a decentralized storage network, has announced the release of its mainnet R2 file storage system designed to enhance the decentralization of nonfungible tokens (NFT) and their corresponding data. The solution was created amid the rise in concerns around the lack of immutability on the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) protocol, a relatively undiscussed model of storage that currently serves as the gold standard for the majority of NFT assets including Cryptopunks and Beeple. Twitter user Jonty Wareing shared a popular assessment on the fundamental flaws of IPFS for NFT projects. Short version: The NFT token you bought either points to …

Brave private browser integrates IPFS support to desktop version
Brave Browser, a popular blockchain-enabled web browser, has integrated native support of InterPlanetary File System, or IPFS, to strengthen the access to the decentralized web. According to a Jan. 19 announcement, Brave has integrated IPFS into its desktop web browser for Windows, macOS and Linux, enabling users to install the protocol in a couple of clicks. IPFS is a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol designed to make the web faster, safer, and more open. The protocol aims to supplement or possibly even replace the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, which is a major client-based protocol used to transfer web pages across a …

IPFS rep explains how malicious files are eliminated from its network
The InterPlanetary File System, or IPFS, helps decentralize the internet by making files available across multiple locations instead of through a single centralized point of failure. What happens if someone reports a problematic IPFS file, however? Dietrich Ayala, ecosystem lead for IPFS, explained the process: "Let's say there's a URL, or an IPFS content ID as we call them — there's an IPFS address that we have identified to be malicious or dangerous somehow," Ayala told Cointelegraph. If this sort of problem were to occur on the standard centralized internet, the URL would likely be added to a blacklist and …

Web 3.0 would enable new possibilities and opportunities
Lately, the controversial topic of censorship on Big Tech platforms reached a turning point when U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign account was banned on both Twitter and Facebook for “spreading coronavirus misinformation.” The conversation over who has control over what kinds of information that get out to what kinds of audiences is not new. As we move toward Web 3.0, many believe this future version of the internet will be a more decentralized, immutable and censorship-resistant version of the web. The decentralized data storage solution InterPlanetary File System, or IPFS, is a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol that is designed to make …

Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin on ‘Zombie’ BitTorrent Under Justin Sun ‘Dictatorship’
Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin lamented what he regards as an example of the “Justin Sun dictatorship,” after the TRON (TRX) founder was implicated in yet another plagiarism controversy. A recent rebranding of the BitTorrent File System (BTFS) was met with outrage by Juan Benet, creator of IPFS — or Interplanetary File System. Benet pointed out similarities between the new BTFS logo and that of IPFS, and alleged that the similarities don’t stop there. He tweeted: “Aaaaaahahaha it’s not enough to fork all our code, rebrand it and lie its theirs; copy paste random chunks of our papers, and defraud their investors …

The current focus of the team is reportedly refining the protocol design, finalizing cryptographic proof construction, launching long-running …

Tron Announces BitTorrent-Based IPFS Variant Decentralized File System Protocol
Blockchain platform Tron, which is behind the decentralized, web focused cryptocurrency tron TRX, announced plans to develop a BitTorrent-based version of decentralized file system InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). The development was shared in a press release with Cointelegraph on May 30. Per the release, the BitTorrent File System (BTFS) is a variant of the aforementioned open source IPFS software and will “allow users to receive and host storage on their computers with other individuals and businesses.” Internal testing of the BTFS protocol reportedly already started in late May. Justin Sun, founder of Tron and — since the acquisition in June …

Canada: State-Funded Research Program IRAP Now Hosts Blockchain Explorer
The Canadian government-funded research program Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) is now hosting its own blockchain explorer, according to an official statement on Aug. 20. The IRAP, managed by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), has announced that the project has implemented the blockchain-based app on InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a protocol and network that is designed to enable peer-to-peer storing and sharing of data on a distributed ledger. According to an article published on Newswire, the IPFS blockchain browser has been implemented via Catena Blockchain Suite, a product provided by BitAccess. With its new initiative, IRAP plans to …
