Marathon’s first Bitcoin sale in 2 years not the result of distress
The second largest publicly-listed holder of Bitcoin, crypto mining firm Marathon Digital Holdings has offloaded some of its Bitcoin for the first time in two years. A spokesman told Cointelegraph this was not a result of financial distress. As per a January update posted on Feb. 2, the company disclosed it sold 1,500 BTC, worth $35.3 million at current prices, during the month. While some crypto miners have been forced to sell Bitcoin due to distress, Marathon’s VP of corporate communications Charlie Schumacher explained this was not the case for Marathon. Bitcoin 2022: Thiel calls Buffett 'sociopathic', Mexican billionaire has 60% in BTC
Day two of the Bitcoin 2022 in Miami was as colorful as we’ve come to expect, with Pay-Pal co-founder and venture capitalist Peter Thiel offering up his Bitcoin “enemies list” while Mexico’s third-richest man, Ricardo Salinas revealed he has 60% of his portfolio in Bitcoin. Thiel, one of the keynote speakers, took to the main Nakamoto stage of the conference in the early afternoon and kicked the speech off in style by throwing a wad of $100 bills into the crowd in an attempt to explain the difference between crypto and government-backed fiat currency. As the crowd quickly reached for …

Praxis wants to pivot away from “artificially scarce metaverses” to build a city-state that is organized around “shared values,” rather than the “labor market principles of the Industrial Age”. Early meeting of E-Gold founders may hold clue to Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity — Peter Thiel
PayPal co-founder and billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel believes he may hold a clue on how to find Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s (BTC) pseudonymous creator who disappeared two years after mining the cryptocurrency’s genesis block in January 2009. His theory stems from an early meeting of E-Gold founders in February 2000, where roughly 200 people coalesced around a beach in Anguilla to devise a strategy for promoting a new currency system that could challenge central banks. E-Gold was a digital gold currency that folded in 2007 after its founders were indicted by the United States Justice Department. “I met them on …

PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel says he ‘underinvested’ in Bitcoin
As Bitcoin (BTC) marked a new all-time high above $67,000, PayPal co-founder and billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel said he should have bought more Bitcoin. Thiel spoke of cryptocurrencies, central banks and artificial intelligence during an interview in Miami hosted by policy think tank Lincoln Network, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. “You’re supposed to just buy Bitcoin,” Thiel said, adding, “I feel like I’ve been underinvested in it.” The tech investor noted that his only concern about buying Bitcoin was that the investment “secret was already known by everybody.” “I think the answers are still to go long. Maybe it still …

Pro traders cut their EOS longs, but retail FOMO and $50K+ BTC could tip the scale
EOS (EOS) began a descending trend 53 days ago and despite the recent 27% weekly gain, the altcoin is not showing any signs of a reversal. As a result, investors are questioning whether the former top-5 cryptocurrency has what it takes to turn around after Daniel Larimer, CTO of the development company behind EOS, resigned in late 2020. The emergence of competing proof-of-stake smart contract platforms like Solana (SOL), Polkadot (DOT) and Avalanche (AVAX) possibly weighed on this 2017-era project. One potentially bullish catalyst could be the fact that Block.one, the company responsible for the EOS token launch, owns over …

Derivatives data shows pro traders turning bullish on EOS price
EOS rallied in May after Block.one, a blockchain software firm, announced a $10-billion funding round to build an EOS-based crypto exchange platform called Bullish. The EOSIO development company revealed that it had raised capital from Peter Thiel and Mike Novogratz, as well as hedge fund managers Alan Howard and Louis Bacon. In light of the “bullish” news, the recent $6 local top stands 60% below the $15 high reached on May 12, and this leaves investors with little reason to celebrate. At the moment, retail traders are not comfortable using leverage for bullish positions, and professional traders have been neutral-to-optimistic …
