Is Bitcoin really a hedge against inflation?
While Bitcoin (BTC) has failed in countering this year's rampant global inflation, it should still be considered as an inflation hedge, says Steven Lubka, the managing director of private consumers at Swan Bitcoin. According to Lubka, Bitcoin works well as a hedge against rising prices when inflation is caused by monetary expansion. It is less effective when inflation is caused by supply disruption of food and energy, which he sees as the leading cause of this year's rampant inflation. "In a world where the price of goods is going up because there's been a radical loss of abundance, Bitcoin isn't …

Ethereum price enters ‘oversold’ zone for the first time since November 2018
Ethereum’s native token Ether (ETH) entered its “oversold” territory this June 12, for the first time since November 2018, according to its weekly relative strength index (RSI). This is the last time $ETH went oversold on the weekly (hasn’t confirmed here yet). I had no followers, but macro bottom ticked it. Note, you can push way lower on weekly rsi, not trying to catch a bottom. https://t.co/kLCynTKTcS — The Wolf Of All Streets (@scottmelker) June 12, 2022 ETH eyes oversold bounce Traditional analysts consider an asset to be excessively sold after its RSI reading fall below 30. Fed money printer goes into reverse: What does it mean for crypto?
The United States Federal Reserve is starting the process of paring back its $9 trillion balance sheet that ballooned in recent years in a move called quantitative tightening (QT). Analysts from a crypto exchange and financial investment firm have conflicting opinions about whether QT, starting on Wednesday, will put an end to a decade of unprecedented growth across crypto markets. The worst part about this is that I would imagine ~80% of Americans have no idea what QUANTITIVE TIGHTENING is Why would we, this wasn’t taught in public school The SEC should worry about educating Americans on these terms as …

U.S. dollar index retreats from 20 year highs — But will DXY topping spark a Bitcoin recovery?
The United States dollar index (DXY) retreated broadly from its prevailing bull run in the past two weeks, dropping by up to 3.20% after hitting its two-decade high of 105. Overvaluation risks grip dollar market The U.S. dollar’s correction in the last two weeks preceded twelve months of relentless buying. To recap, the greenback’s weight against the basket of top foreign currencies grew by around 14.3% in a year, primarily as markets looked for safe havens against the fears of a hawkish Federal Reserve and, more recently, the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Cash balances among the global fund …

Bitcoin whale holdings at 7-month highs despite warnings of BTC price crash to $20K
Bitcoin (BTC) prices could drop by 20% in the next few months, but that has not deterred its richest investors from stacking. The amount of Bitcoin held by "unique entities" with a balance of at least 1,000 BTC, or so-called "whales," has increased to its best levels since September 2021, data on Glassnode shows. Interestingly, the number in the past week grew despite Bitcoin's price decline from $43,000 to around $38,000. Marcus Sotiriou, an analyst at GlobalBlock, a U.K.-based digital asset broker, considered the latest spike in Bitcoin whale holdings as a bullish indicator, recalling a similar move in September …

Ethereum price 'bullish triangle' puts 4-year highs vs. Bitcoin within reach
Ethereum's native token Ether (ETH) has dropped about 17% against the U.S. dollar in the last two weeks. But its performance against Bitcoin (BTC) has been less painful with the ETH/BTC pair down 4.5% over the same period. The pair's down-move appears as both ETH/USD and BTC/USD drop nearly in lockstep while reacting to the Federal Reserve's potential to hike rates by 50 basis points and slash its balance sheet by $95 billion per month. The latest numbers released today show that consumer prices rose 8.5% in March, the most since 1981. ETH/BTC triangle breakout Several technicals remain bullish despite …

Why the rise of a Bitcoin standard could deter war-making
Alex Gladstein, the CSO at the Human Rights Foundation, says that if Bitcoin was adopted as a global reserve currency, nation-states would be less incentivized to start wars. According to Gladstein, the U.S. was able to sustain its "forever wars" in Iraq and Afghanistan mainly by borrowing capital. That was possible largely because of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, which has been keeping interest rates relatively low through quantitative easing. "We literally print money, we sell bonds to the open market for a promise to pay in the future and we use the income from the bond sales to pay …

Avalanche price can double by summer as AVAX's 20% weekly rally rekindles 'bull flag'
A sharp upside retracement in the Avalanche (AVAX) market this week has raised its possibilities to rise by another 100% in Q2. Avalanche chart painting a 'bull flag' The bullish outlook primarily appears in the wake of AVAX's multi-month bull flag setup, which formed after a strong price move higher to over $150, an all-time high in the Avalanche market. In detail, the setup is a downward sloping channel, denoted by two parallel trendlines against the previous trend, with volumes declining to underscore a weakening downtrend. In a perfect scenario, bull flags resolve with a breakout move above their upper …

Bitcoin a 'good bet' if Fed continues easing to avoid a recession — analyst
Bitcoin (BTC) has the potential to become a "good bet" for investors if the Federal Reserve does everything it can to keep the U.S. economy afloat against impending recession risks, according to popular analyst Bitcoin Jack. The independent market analyst pitted the flagship cryptocurrency, often called "digital gold" by its enthusiasts, against the prospects of further quantitative easing by the U.S. central bank, noting that the ongoing military standoff between Ukraine and Russia had choked the supply chain of essential commodities, such as oil and wheat, resulting in higher global inflation. For instance, consumer prices in Europe jumped 5.8% year-over-year …

A potential decoupling scenario between Bitcoin (BTC) and the Nasdaq Composite can push BTC price to reach $100,000 within 24 months, according to Tuur Demeester, founder of Adamant Capital. Bitcoin outperforms tech stocks Demeester depicted Bitcoin's growing market valuation against the tech-heavy U.S. stock market index, highlighting its ability to break out every time after a period of strong consolidation. Will this time be different? Bitcoin eyes drop to $35K as BTC price paints 'death cross'
Bitcoin (BTC) formed a trading pattern on Jan. 8 that is widely watched by traditional chartists for its ability to anticipate further losses. In detail, the cryptocurrency's 50-day exponential moving average (50-day EMA) fell below its 200-day exponential moving average (200-day EMA), forming a so-called "death cross." The pattern appeared as Bitcoin underwent a rough ride in the previous two months, falling over 40% from its record high of $69,000. Death cross history Previous death crosses were insignificant to Bitcoin over the past two years. For instance, a 50-200-day EMA bearish crossover in March 2020 appeared after the BTC price …

Ethereum plunges 13%, down more than Bitcoin after Fed spooks crypto market
Ethereum's native token Ether (ETH) plunged sharply hours after the U.S. Federal Reserve released the minutes of their December meeting, showing that they eye a faster timetable for hiking interest rates in 2022. The minutes showed that the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is in favor of raising short-term rates "sooner or at a faster pace than participants had earlier anticipated." According to the CME Group, trading in the interest-rate futures market showed a two-thirds possibility of the first increase in March. Ether turned lower after the minutes were released, dropping by over 13.50% to as low as $3,300. Its …
