Uniswap Labs has announced plans to release a new self-custodial mobile wallet that will offer users the ability to swap on L1 or L2 networks without having to switch networks. According to Uniswap Labs, the wallet will allow users to check price charts and search for any token across various networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism. To ensure maximum security, Uniswap Labs worked with Trail of Bits for the audit of the wallet. Additionally, the seed phrases and private keys of both imported and newly created wallets will be encrypted and stored on devices using Apple's secure enclave, which …

Fully on-chain order book DEXs as the future of DeFi
For most retail crypto investors, centralized digital marketplaces like Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, and many more have been the preferred gateway to the world of cryptocurrency trading. However, as leaked customer data like the recent Gemini case and misappropriated funds like the FTX debacle continue to plague the space, crypto investors have been looking into alternatives. According to a Delphi Digital analysis following the FTX crash, DEX tokens saw a 24% uptick, and CEX tokens saw a 2% decline. The lack of transparency in how CEX operations are run has become a major driver for this trend shift. What’s more, a …

Stablecoins could prove to be a critical factor in larger DeFi adoption, says Aave founder Stani Kulechov. According to the Aave executive, building the “payment layer,” which involves stablecoins, can potentially hook regular people into the space, eventually introducing them into DeFi. On the other hand, S&P Global Ratings …

Uniswap holders ditch Ethereum for BNB PoS Chain to deploy V3 protocol
Holders of Uniswap (UNI) have decided to deploy the third version of the decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol on BNB Chain, a rival of the Ethereum network. In a proposal posted on Jan. 17, Ilia Maksimenka, the CEO of the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Plasma Finance, highlighted reasons why the Uniswap v3 protocol should be deployed to the BNB Chain. Maksimenka wrote: “We believe this is the right moment for Uniswap to deploy on BNB PoS Chain, for many reasons (one of them is License expiration).” After the discussion on the governance forum, the Uniswap community conducted a “temperature check” poll …

Price analysis 1/13: BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, ADA, DOGE, MATIC, DOT, LTC, UNI
Bitcoin (BTC) rose above $19,000 on Jan. 12, the highest level since Nov. 8. Although a bull market may not start in a hurry, Glassnode data suggests that the foundation for a macro bottom in Bitcoin may be in place. The on-chain analytics firm tweeted on Jan. 12 that “13% of the Circulating Supply” returned to profit when Bitcoin rallied to $18,200. This suggests a large phase of accumulation took place in the $16,500 to $18,200 range. Along with Bitcoin, Ether (ETH) is also witnessing signs of accumulation. The number of Ethereum sharks, holding between 100 and 10,000 Ether, has …

Crypto and stock markets are usually forward-looking. Meaning, traders tend to ignore the near-term negatives and focus on the positives down the line. With Bitcoin’s (BTC) next halving in 2024, analysts are shifting their attention to this event. Independent market analyst Rekt Capital highlighted this unique market dynamic in 2015 and 2019, a year before halving, Bitcoin rallied 234% and 316% respectively. If history repeats itself, Bitcoin’s price action may spring a surprise in 2023. However, the near term remains uncertain and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data on Jan. 12 may lead to a sharp uptick in volatility. Some …

December DeFi exploits were the lowest in 2022: Finance Redefined
Welcome to Finance Redefined, your weekly dose of essential decentralized finance (DeFi) insights — a newsletter crafted to bring you significant developments over the last week. The end of 2022 saw the least value of stolen funds from DeFi, with $62 million worth of exploits in December. While the figure might seem a relief given the multiple bridge hacks and hundreds of millions of dollars stolen this year, cybersecurity experts have warned that the ecosystem would see no decrease in exploits, flash loans or exit scams in 2023. Lido protocol overtook MakerDAO to have the highest total value locked (TVL) …

Price analysis 1/6: BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, DOGE, ADA, MATIC, DOT, LTC, UNI
The United States December nonfarm payrolls report showed a growth of 223,000 jobs, above the market's expectation of an increase of 200,000 jobs. While this shows that the economy remains strong, market observers shifted their focus to the slower wage growth of 0.3% for the month, below economists’ expectation of 0.4%. In addition, the euro zone’s headline inflation dropped from 10.1% in November to 9.2% in December. Both economic data boosted hopes that the central bank’s aggressive rate tightening may slow down. This triggered a rally in the U.S. and European stock markets. However, the reaction in the cryptocurrency space …

Gold made a strong start to the new year and is trading close to a seven-month high on expectations that the United States Federal Reserve may slow down and hike rates only by 25 basis points in its next meeting on Feb. 1. Cryptocurrency markets have also shown a mild uptick but are yet to make a decisive move higher. One of the reasons could be renewed fears regarding Digital Currency Group’s liquidity issues, which again came into focus after Gemini co-founder Cameron Winklevoss penned an open letter to DCG CEO Barry Silbert on the alleged $900 million that Genesis …
