The metaverse is testing the limits of what is legally possible
It’s no secret that over the last few years, many physical events have now digital iterations or have even been completely digitized into virtual reality. Recently, in Colombia, a local judge decided to bring a court hearing into the metaverse as an experiment with the technology. It was a civil case involving a traffic incident, which will progress further “partially” in the metaverse. While many believe that the metaverse will reshape our social lives, it begs the question if digital reality can best serve important societal moments such as court cases where an individual’s future may be at stake. Cointelegraph …

Meet ISPO: An innovative proof-of-stake tool for blockchain-based fundraising
Venture capital has long been the go-to method for crypto projects looking for funding during the peak of a bull cycle. However, as the bear market of 2022 extended, the amount invested by crypto venture capital funds dwindled, showing a clear need for a self-sustained funding system for the blockchain space. A Cointelegraph Research report shows that while 2022 saw more capital inflow to crypto projects in total, there’s a clear decline on monthly funding charts after May 2022 — or the time of the Terra ecosystem collapse. Web3 and crypto projects lacking access to VC funds need ways to …

Flip the script:: This digital collection is making a real-world impact
The entertainment industry rarely sees a dull moment when it comes to disputes over the ownership of intellectual property or creative rifts between big networks and showrunners. A tiny number of studios and networks own the majority of rights, leading to the mass production of films and TV shows that somehow feel the same. Web3 aims to change that by giving the power back to content creators and fans. “In Hollywood, there’s a formula,” explained Jason Neubauer, the founder and CEO of Affect Change. “People have their own agendas. What are Web3 games, and how do they work?
The future of Web3 gaming The future of Web3 gaming is exciting and promising, as it offers new opportunities for players to truly own their in-game assets and currencies, as well as new revenue streams for developers. Incorporating blockchain into gaming has changed the industry, democratizing it by removing centralized parties and creating new ways of monetization with more social and community-oriented gaming experiences — all of which further enhance the social and entertainment aspects of gaming. However, it is unlikely that Web3 games will completely replace traditional games, as they offer different experiences and target different audiences. However, Web3 …

Could NFTs and crypto help Japan’s ‘Cool Japan’ strategy?
Japan has consistently been a leader in the tech industry, so it’s a logical step forward that, given current trends in the space, the Cool Japan movement might incorporate Web3 to strengthen its initiative. Bringing Web3 into the mix alongside the popular culture aspects of the movement could prove a boon for the mission, but this move has not yet been implemented by the government-led movement. With much of Web3 still being an unknown in regard to its capabilities and future outlook, it is understandable that the government has yet to combine it with its initiative to bring Japan into …

Car makers, fashion giants and pet food brands seek Web3 trademarks as 2023 rolls on
