WordPress adds official Ethereum ad plugin
A new crypto plugin will allow WordPress publishers to receive ad earnings directly into their Ether (ETH) wallets, according to a Dec. 10 plugin description posted on the WordPress’ official website. Called “EthereumAds,” the plugin will enable content publishers to auction advertisement space for ETH using smart contracts. “After you inserted our widget your ad space is automatically openly auctioned off using our smart contract every two weeks to the highest bidder,” the official description reads. WordPress content can now be timestamped on Ethereum
A plugin for the WordPress web publishing platform now enables users to timestamp content on the Ethereum blockchain. The plugin can help with copyright issues, proof of who created a piece of content, and to reassure readers it has not been altered. WordPress currently powers around 37% of all websites and has a 60% share of the CMS market. ConsenSys Joins News Industry Leaders to Invest in New WordPress Publishing Platform
Blockchain tech firm ConsenSys has joined news industry leaders to contribute to the creation of a new revenue-generating news platform by WordPress, according to an official press release published on Jan. 14. ConsenSys has invested $350,000 in the new WordPress project called Newspack, an open-source publishing platform for news companies. WordPress has removed its Bitcoin payment option and it has given a non-committal answer when asked if it will return. The news was quietly made, with no announcement coming from WordPress or its Bitcoin partner Bitpay. CoinDesk broke the news yesterday.
